Suspect Arrested in Santa Maria Shooting

On Monday, December 14th at about 7:30PM, SMPD responded to shots heard in the area of the 200 block West Williams. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim who had sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Marian Regional Medical Center where he is still in critical condition.

On Thursday, December 18th, Santa Maria Police Detectives and Special Enforcement Team served arrest and search warrants in Santa Maria, Guadalupe and Tanglewood related to the investigation. 

SMPD arrested Guadalupe resident Justin Orozco, 19 years of age without incident. Orozco was charged with attempted murder and booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail. Orozco’s bail was set at $1,000,000.
