SR-246 Passing Lane Project Continues
A safety project to construct passing lanes in both directions on State Route 246 near Lompoc from Cebada Canyon Road to Hapgood Road (East) will result in the removal of protective railing next week in preparation for paving the new traffic lanes.
Motorists will encounter one-way reversing traffic control west and east of Tularosa Road on Tuesday, Dec. 19 and Wednesday, Dec. 20 from 8:30 am until 4 pm. Motorists are urged to drive carefully through this construction area. Motorists can expect delays not exceed 10 minutes.
The contractor for this $14.9 million project is Papich Construction of Pismo Beach, CA. This project is fully funded by the Santa Barbara County Association of Governments (SBCAG) Measure A program. It is scheduled to be complete in the spring of 2018, weather permitting.
Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through highway construction zones.
