Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to a small crude oil spill at the HVI Cat Canyon facility near Los Alamos on Tuesday afternoon.
The facility, located at 5017 Zaca Station Road, reported approximately 25 barrels of crude oil spilled around 6:00 a.m.
The County Fire Department's Oil and Gas Division responded to the scene and discovered a sample cock was left open and allowed leakage from about 25 barrels. The spill was captured by secondary containment and no waterways impacted, according to Santa Barbara County Fire Capt. Daniel Bertucelli.
The cleanup was completed on Tuesday and state agencies were notified.
