Sheriff's Office Releases Name of Homicide Victim Found in Old Town Goleta

Sheriff’s detectives are sharing additional information from their ongoing homicide investigation that began yesterday.

The victim is being identified as 57-year-old Efrain Alvarado Morales from Goleta. The cause and manner of death is not yet available for release to the public.

Detectives Investigating Homicide in Old Town Goleta, Person of Interest Detained

Sheriff’s detectives have detained a person of interest for a homicide that occurred this morning. At approximately 6:42 a.m., deputies responded to the area of Pine Avenue and Carson Street for a report of a subject down in the roadway.

When deputies arrived, they found an adult male subject in the roadway who was deceased. This death is being investigated as a homicide.

At approximately 8:01 a.m., deputies located an adult male with injuries in the area, who they detained as a person of interest. The subject was transported to an area hospital for treatment for his injuries.

Sheriff’s detectives, forensics technicians, and Coroners detectives responded to the scene for investigation. A person of interest has been detained. Scene on Carson will remain closed for several hours.
