The Sheriff’s Office is investigating a vandalism that occurred at Girsh Park, not far from a storage shed that was likely burned down by an arsonist. On Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at approximately 9:39 a.m., a Sheriff’s deputy responded to the Hochman Family Plaza area of Girsh Park for a vandalism report. Deputies had been to a different area of the same park the night before when they responded to assist County Fire with a shed fire. County Fire believes the shed fire was likely an act of arson, however, their investigation is ongoing.

The vandalism damage to the playground area consisted of writing on the sidewalk and a planter area. The writing included a statement referencing “burning”. Sheriff’s deputies will be coordinating with the County Fire Investigator to determine if the two crimes are related.

Anyone with information about the vandalism is encouraged to contact the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Bureau at 805-681-4150. If you prefer to remain anonymous, you can provide information by calling our tip line at (805)681-4171 or online at SBSheriff.org.
