Sheriff’s Office Announces More Convenient and Efficient Inmate Fund Deposit System

Source: Santa Barbara County Sheriff

The Sheriff’s Office now has a more convenient method for depositing funds on an inmate’s account. Until now, deposits were only accepted in person at the Santa Barbara County Jail during specific hours. Under a new partnership with TouchPay, deposits can now be made by phone, on-line, or in person at several newly installed kiosks that are open and accessible 24 hours a day.

The kiosks are located at the Santa Barbara County Main Jail facility in the public lobby as well as the public lobby at the Santa Maria substation. The kiosks accept debit/credit and cash deposits. To place money on an inmate’s account by phone, call 866-232-1899. To make an on-line deposit, go to www.TouchPayDirect.com. For both phone and on-line deposits, you must register first online or with TouchPay Customer Service and cash is not accepted. To make sure funds are properly applied, please use the Jail Facility Number: 293160. Funds are available within 24 hours.

The custodial account allows incarcerated individuals the ability to purchase commissary products, inmate telephone debit minutes and to have funds available at release from jail. There are applicable charges to all deposits for the service. The Sheriff’s Office does not in any way profit from these charges.

The Sheriff’s Office is pleased to offer this more convenient and efficient inmate fund deposit system. Custody Chief Vincent Wasilewski said, “This new service provides greater accessibility for friends and family members who have an incarcerated loved one to make deposits more conveniently, regardless of whether they can travel to the Main Jail at a specific time of day or not. Anywhere in the world, anytime of the day or night, they can send money to an inmate. The inmates get their deposits quicker and more reliably. Plus, it relieves our staff from the task of counting and depositing funds manually, which will reduce errors and make us more effi cient. Truly a win-win-win situation.”
