Scanner Reports 4-19-19
By Roger the Scanner Guy
I find it quite interesting that things, which are not quite as desirable but needed in Santa Barbara end up in the least desirable parts of town. At least for a while until these things spread out and take over. The NIMBYS did not see that coming. I have always loved the East Side since I first moved here in 1985 or so. I've been on the West Side a few times too but the East is my home. I was for the homeless shelter when it opened up down here. Through the years I have had trouble with staff members more than anyone else and only a couple issues with homeless folks.
However, I haven't had issues with PATH staff at all. The guy that ran the shelter before PATH was horrible: always yelling about one thing or another and blaming the neighborhood for the problems of the homeless, although I think he himself caused most of the problems. I don't like that the homeless shelters are turning into Alcohol and Drug rehabs but at least there are not as many problems. Now that the North Side is becoming the New East Side that is acceptable (just kidding). Suggest something like the Guardian Angels and it turns into "Oh it's really not that bad. We can do it ourselves." And that is fine though it's been this way all along. Meanwhile, the more a town grows so does everything else (including crime). That is just the way it is.
Well, the FULL MOON is coming up soon and I wonder what it will bring with it? Things always get a little looney during the Full Moon. I guess we will pee... Here are your Scanner Reports.

Apr 19, 2019 08:24 AMColossus? Roger, what do you think about this? Colossus (French firefighting 1,100 lb. robot), something for people to consider when trying to save their Montecito home from wildfire. "Colossus is built to endure brutal conditions, operate a fire hose, carry heavy tools into a hostile environment or carry wounded people out. It can be operated from almost 1,000 feet away, and its modular design allows it to be configured for different jobs.”

Apr 20, 2019 12:30 PMLas Positas/State St. is McKenzie Park. I think someone posted several years ago that the City or County was placing people (just out of jail or mental facility?) in the area motels there. Is that still the case, and could it be contributing to the problem?

Apr 22, 2019 08:58 AMIn honor of Earth Day. (1) Take your clippers to some fuel load along paths and roads (grass/weeds). Spend 1/2 hour clipping. Take children with you and give them clippers; tell them they are important to not having a wildfire spread. (2) Buy a fire extinguisher for your car.
