SB Search and Rescue Assist in LA County Hiker Search

Source: Santa Barbara County Search and Rescue (SBCSAR)

SBCSAR responded and joined numerous other teams from throughout California in the Angeles National Forest this past weekend to search for a missing hiker. The hiker had not returned from a day hike the weekend before and was reported missing the following week.

Teams searched the area surrounding Waterman Mountain for sign of the subject and throughout snow storms. Around 1:30pm on Saturday afternoon the missing hiker was found by search teams after having succumbed to the extreme conditions. Our condolences go out to the family and friends of the hiker.

SBCSAR is trained in snow/ice and high altitude alpine conditions and can be deployed across the state to assist with searches in these extreme Type I conditions.

Santa Barbara County Search & Rescue is a professional, all volunteer and unpaid 501(c)3 organization that is community supported by generous giving to provide services to the County of Santa Barbara under the direction of the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.
