Santa Maria Police Investigating Two Shootings

On October 28, 2021 at about 10:00 PM, Santa Maria Police were sent to the area of the 600 block of south Curryer street for shots heard in the area.  Officers arrived and located two adult males suffering from gunshot wounds.  One male was transported to Marian Regional Hospital by ambulance and the other was air lifted to Cottage Hospital to be treated.  SMPD Detectives along with the Crime Lab were requested to continue the investigation.  There is no indication at this point that the crime was gang related.
 
A few hours later at about 1:15 AM, SMPD was sent to the are of the 1400 block of north Thornburg regarding shots heard in the area.  Officers arrived and did not locate any victims but did locate evidence of a shooting.
 
Both shootings are still under investigation and there is no evidence at this time they are related.  Detectives are asking anyone with information on either shooting to contact Santa Maria Police at (805) 928-3781 X2277
