Santa Maria Homicide Suspect Charged with Murder

Santa Barbara County District Attorney Joyce E. Dudley announced today that a felony complaint has been filed against Juan Carlos Hernandez, 25, of Santa Maria, California.  Mr. Hernandez is charged with murder in violation of Penal Code section 187 and use of a firearm pursuant to Penal Code Section 12022.53(d) and 12022.5(a) in connection with the October 6, 2019 shooting that resulted in the death of Jose Alberto Medina, 23, of Santa Maria.  Mr. Medina was allegedly shot outside of 805 Tacos at 1018 W. Main Street in the City of Santa Maria.  

Mr. Hernandez appeared in the Santa Maria Superior Court this afternoon, where his arraignment was continued until November 6, 2019, by Judge Iwasko.  Bail was set at $3,000,000.00.
