Pedestrian Killed by Vehicle on Highway 101

This story is so strange! So this elderly man was driven down here from Santa Maria and dropped off at the Goleta Pier with his fishing stuff and then later this elderly man is walking on the freeway, in a lane and carrying his fishing pole where he was sadly struck and killed. It's very concerning! Not just that he died but what was he doing here alone at night? A lot of this doesn't make sense. I'm sad for his family but can't help but wonder what they were thinking when they dropped him off alone on the pier... Definitely more to this mysterious story.

Calle Real technically runs south of the freeway Between El Cap Ranch Road and La Casa Grande Circle. In practicality, that is the DP Ranch area.

Or more so the Las Varas Ranch area. I was commenting on the original post which said it occurred in Goleta, but later Goleta was removed.

No, Calle Real continues for over a mile west of Bacara and still completely on the north side of the 101. It does not end at the Hollister crossing.
