A pedestrian has died after being struck by an Amtrak train in Montecito on Tuesday evening.
The southbound Pacific Surfliner was passing by Channel Drive around 6:30 p.m. when it struck an adult male.
Montecito Firefighters and Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the scene where the man was pronounced dead.
The victim’s identity has yet to be released.
This is an ongoing investigation.

Condolences to the family and may he rest in peace. This seems to be happening very frequently in our city now, people are being killed from trains, car accidents, violence and DUI’s. Please be careful out there I know things can get tough, but there is mental health help for those who need it and don’t drink and drive use and UBER.
Fencing the Cold Springs bridge hasn’t helped
They had a lot of people jumping in front of trains in North Coastal San Diego and so they built a fence. Didn’t help. People walk around it now. Nothing will prevent someone from doing this other than someone standing there helping out. This is a shame, I feel awful for his family. RIP.
It’s also hard on the train staff. They are powerless to avoid hitting people.
Totally. I can’t imagine what they go through. They must see this a lot.

Interesting how my explanation of what a cow catcher was for got deleted. This was a horrible event, but a cow catcher would not have saved a life.
