One Injury in Downtown Santa Barbara Structure Fire

Santa Barbara City firefighters responded to a structure fire in the 200 block of Equestrian Avenue Wednesday morning that left one person with burn injuries.

At 7:25 a.m., crews arrived on the scene in between Victoria and Santa Barbara Streets in the downtown area.

White smoke was seen coming from the two-story residential structure and crews quickly extinguished the fire.

One victim sustained burn injuries and was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. The extent of the injuries is unknown, reports the City Fire Department.

A cat was also rescued from the building.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
