Second Suspect Charged with Murder of Lompoc Woman

Santa Barbara County District Attorney Joyce E. Dudley announced today that an amended felony complaint has been filed in the case against Brenden Michael Terry, 20, of Lompoc, California.  The amended complaint adds Robert James Scott, 23, of Lompoc, California, as a co-defendant. 

Mr. Scott is charged with accessory after the fact to murder, in violation of Penal Code Section 32, in connection with the March 25, 2020 shooting death of Sarah Stoffle, 18, of Lompoc, California.  It is also alleged that defendant Scott was previously released on bail or on his own recognizance in a previously filed unrelated felony matter, within the meaning of Penal Code section 12022.1(b).  The 1st Amended Felony Complaint against Brenden Michael Terry and Robert James Scott is attached.

Mr. Scott appeared in the Santa Maria Superior Court this morning where he entered a plea of not-guilty.  Judge James Voysey set bail at $1,000,000 and continued the matter for preliminary hearing on April 23, 2020 in Lompoc Superior Court Department 1.

Santa Barbara County District Attorney Joyce E. Dudley announced today that a felony complaint has been filed against Brenden Michael Terry, 20, of Lompoc, California.

Mr. Terry is charged with murder in violation of Penal Code Section 187 in connection with the March 25, 2020, shooting death of Sarah Stoffle, 18, of Lompoc, California. It is also alleged that the defendant intentionally and personally discharged a firearm causing death within the meaning of Penal Code Section 12022.53(d).

Mr. Terry appeared in Santa Maria Superior Court this morning where he entered a plea of not-guilty. Judge Patricia Kelly set bail at $3,000,000 and continued the matter for preliminary hearing on April 23, 2020 in Lompoc Superior Court Department 1.
