The Santa Barbara County Community Services Department, Parks Division, along with Second District County Supervisor Janet Wolf, are pleased to announce the opening of a pet wash station at Tucker’s Grove Park located in the back section of the park next to the restroom and the dog off-leash area. The pet wash is completely self-serve and accepts debit and credit cards.

Users simply swipe their credit or debit card and select a fresh water rinse and any of the high quality pet shampoo, flea shampoo and conditioning products. The pet wash rinse water is maintained at 70 degrees, and there is a two-speed blower to dry pets.

“The pet wash stations at Arroyo Burro Beach have been so popular and provide a tremendous community service for our four-legged constituents, as well as a positive source of revenue,” commented Supervisor Wolf. “I’m sure that the new pet wash stations at Tucker’s Grove will be popular as well!”

Tucker’s Grove Park, located at 800 San Antonio Creek Road at the end of Turnpike, is a popular park for families with dogs. Dogs are required to be on a leash while in the park, however, there is a fenced dog off-leash area located in the back section of the park, near the Kiwanis Meadows area. The addition of these services will enhance the park as a destination for pet lovers. Revenues from the pet wash operations will support County Parks’ operations and maintenance. For questions or comments about the pet wash, send email to contact@sbparks.org.

You said that right. There was no political involvement, and that is exactly the problem. How about a human being wash station downtown SB or anywhere for that matter? I do not understand how so many "conscious" "aware" "woke" people who live in this town will protest over next to nothing like plastic straws, but are A-OK with fellow citizens living like stray dogs! We see you folks, eating shrimp cocktail with a nice glass of wine outside a State Street eatery, while 10 feet away some sad soul who hasn't had a square meal in months dwindles away....and all YOU want is for THEM to go away. Enjoy your new dog wash station.

A 400-gallon livestock trough for the bears to soak in would be a nice addition for the upper meadow too. A little drizzle of veggie oil every other day would keep to the mosquitos at bay.

As someone who is familiar with the off-leash enclosure at Tucker's Grove, I feel it must be said: This dog wash installation would have been best placed at another location. Tucker's Grove off-leash area sees minimal off-leash dog use compared to our beaches and other parks. But because those other areas (90% of them, anyway) are not legally off-leash and because there isn't really any proper place to put one of these stations (without being seen to encourage even more illegal off-leash activity) I can see why the County Supervisors thought Tucker's Grove would do for this new dog wash unit.

Yay. I don’t go to that park so I don’t have to worry about more off leash dogs and an influx of poop and poop bags that lame owners never pick up. Thanks Janet you picked a great park :)
