The City of Goleta is excited that construction on Hollister/Kellogg Park is underway and will be open early in the spring of 2019! We want your input on a fitting name for this exciting new park. It is the first large park developed by the City of Goleta and is located at 170 South Kellogg Avenue. The park will offer a number of amenities for all ages of the community to enjoy, including open space, picnic shelters, playground structures, walking paths, game tables, a skate park and more. View the design of the new park here, then fill out an online form letting us know the ideal name for the park and why (click here to fill out the online form in Spanish). The form is also available to download and return to Goleta City Hall, click here for the form in English and here for the form in Spanish.

The deadline to participate is Thursday, September 20 at 5:00 p.m. Submissions will be reviewed by the City’s Naming Committee and finalists will be considered at the October 3rdmeeting of the Parks & Recreation Commission at 6:00 p.m.  The Commission will provide a recommendation to the City’s Naming Committee, who will present a final recommendation to the City Council on Tuesday, October 16th for consideration. The finalists and winner will receive gift cards to local businesses. More information is available here.

Yes, Sunshine Park seems appropriate: it looks like there is very little shade in the main part of the park. There are trees on the creek side, but will there be any elsewhere?

Sunshine Park is GREAT for families! What respectable drug dealers would tell someone to meet them at Sunshine Park. Beneath their dignity.

For the first year of this park, keep heavy security day and night, thus not giving "dealers" a chance to get established. Overnight, needles left in certain areas of various parks are a real hazard. If this park gets a reputation for such among young parents, that will be the end of the good feelings. It's a new day, and residents should get involved, too, by taking cellphones to this lovely Goleta park and calling police if there are crimes in progress.

Just don't name it after a politician or any other bigwig.

Hollogg or Kellister seem like the obvious choices.

I'm hoping for a "Friends of the Park" who would volunteer to assist in keeping it clean and safe. Take your cellphone and if you see something...say something (to the Police). Keep an eye out for elderly people who might need someone to talk to.

Isn't there an off leash area not far away at Tuckers Grove? I believe that is where the dog wash station is too.

Need to keep a guard on the park grounds day and night, or live webcams that the community can keep an eye on. Wonderful park, and thank you! How about Sunshine Park.

I guess there's no dog off-leash area. That's a shame.

There are so many constructed courts, etc, I'm not sure there's any space for dogs.

Super excited for the kids in the area to have a park I just hope it’s not inundated with druggies & homeless.

Kickball leagues and AYSO teams will kick the local children & homeless off the fields anyways. There is already a park attached to the site in question. It’s called Armitos Park.
