We received a notification from Elings Park this morning that a mountain lion was spotted near the hang glider area of the park. Be careful while hiking and walking off leash with pets.

Mountain Lion Sighting at Elings Park

I live near Elings Park. A lot of rabbits there. I’ve seen a few bobcats there as well as the plentiful rabbits are a food source. The difference between a mountain lion is really simple. A long tail with a dark tip is a mountain lion. They’re usually bigger and more slender. A bobcat has a short stubby tail about 6 inches long. They’re usually smaller and look similar to a domestic cat.

Without a photo or a Cal Fish & Wildlife report it's really hard to give a JQPublic sighting a lot of weight.

Highly doubt this was a Mountain lion. As 7473 stated, many people don't know a Mt. lion from a smaller wild cat. Or they think Bobcats and Mt. lions are the same thing.
