Minor Injuries and DUI Arrest in Calle Real Rollover Collision

Update by Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office

Just before noon today, Sheriff Deputies, County Fire Personnel and AMR responded to the intersection of Calle Real and N. La Patera Lane after three vehicles collided, one of which rolled over and came to rest on its roof. Although the driver of the rolled over vehicle sustained only minor injuries, he was trapped inside the vehicle until extricated by Fire personnel.  Another driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital by AMR for treatment, and the occupants of the third vehicle escaped without injury.

While the cause of the collision remains under investigation, the driver of the tan colored Infinity SUV, 31 -year-old Eduardo Rios of Oxnard, has been cited for suspicion of driving under the influence.

With significant rain falling throughout our region, this collision serves as another reminder to only drive when it is necessary during inclement weather.  If you do need to drive, please remember to slow down and use caution on slippery roads.

The City of Goleta contracts with the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Office for law enforcement services.
