Man Jumps from Highway 101 Overpass

A man jumped to his death from the Highway 101 overpass at La Cumbre Road on Thursday morning.

The incident took place around 9:45 a.m. when emergency personnel responded to the scene. 

California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported the man was lying in the center divider as the number one southbound lane closed. CHP confirmed no vehicles were involved.

Southbound traffic has slowed. 

This is a developing story.

  1. When I first read this I thought it was from the State Street bridge, because that has like NO guardrail and it is sketchy just to walk across it and would be way too easy to jump from. In fact, I think it is the only bridge over the freeway that doesn’t have a HIGH and supposedly non-scalable fence. The La Cumbre fence looks hard to climb!
