Injured Hiker Rescued from Hot Springs Trail

[Sunday] morning, just before noon, team members along with Montecito Fire and American Medical Response responded to Hot Springs Trail in the Montecito area for an injured hiker with a lower extremity injury.

The injured subject’s location was just north of the Hot Springs ruins and in the creek bed. After locating the subject following a short search, Montecito Fire paramedics assessed the condition of the subject and carryout was initiated to the fire road by SAR and Montecito Fire personnel.

The subject and medic were loaded into an SBCSAR high clearance vehicle for evacuation out to the awaiting AMR ambulance for transport to a local hospital. 


SBCSAR is an all-volunteer unit of the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office and is available to respond to calls for service 24/7 365 days a year. The team is run as a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization and is community supported through donations for its operations.
