Illegal Gambling Device Seized in Santa Maria Restaurant

Source: Santa Maria Police Department

As part of the recently acquired Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Grant, the SMPD conducted a 2 week long investigation regarding an illegal gambling machine at one of our local ABC “on-sale establishments.”

On 09/01/2017, Santa Maria Police Department Community Services Unit Officers and ABC Agents responded to Tacos El Tizon Restaurant, 241 Tower Center East. The owner of the business was contacted and the illegal gambling machine was seized as evidence. This case will be handle administrative by the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control and will be forwarded to the Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office for review.

Funding for these programs was provided by the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control through the Department’s Grant Assistance Program (GAP), and some were funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
