Identity Released of Man who Jumped from Highway Overpass

The identity of the man who jumped to his death from the Highway 101 overpass last week has been released.

Chancellor Ralph “Chance” Bernard, 44 of Amarillo, Texas, died Thursday, November 5, 2020. 

Law enforcement responded to La Cumbre underpass and discovered a body near the center divider. It was determined Bernard had intentionally jumped from the overpass.

Bernard was an avid car enthusiast and loved fast cars and jet skiing. Chance enjoyed drag racing and started at the age of 16. After high school, he worked restoring player pianos and antique tractors. He later became a journeyman auto mechanic, according to his obituary.

Memorial services are scheduled for Tuesday, November 17 in Amarillo, Texas.
