Goleta Man Arrested for Possession of Child Pornography

This morning, detectives served a search warrant in the 200-block of Helena, resulting in the arrest of 26-year-old Jose Alvarez-Fuentes of Goleta for possession of pornographic material of a child (felony).

The investigation began on May 5, 2020, when detectives received a tip from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Program that child pornography had been uploaded by a user on social media. Through the investigation, the phone number and IP address associated with the social media account was linked to Jose Alvarez-Fuentes. Detectives authored a search warrant for Alvarez-Fuentes’ residence and phone, which was served this morning.

When he was contacted, Alvarez-Fuentes was found in possession of child pornography. Alvarez-Fuentes was booked at the Santa Barbara County Jail and will be cite released without bail in accordance with Emergency Rule 4. This investigation is ongoing. 

The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Program is a national network ​of 61 coordinated task forces representing over 4,500 federal, state, and local law enforcement and prosecutorial agencies, including the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.
