An online fundraiser has been created for a longtime employee of the Santa Barbara restaurant community.

Alfredo Arroyo, the former general manager of Cafe de Sol in Montecito for 39 years, is currently a bartender at Joe’s Cafe by day and manager of the Crocodile Restaurant at the Lemon Tree Inn by night.

He experienced a massive heart attack on November 7 with open heart surgery two days later. During his recovery he development pneumonia and was transferred from Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital to UCLA Medical Center.

Arroyo is currently on a ECMO bypass machine and dialysis, listed as critical condition, an online fundraiser states.

The fundraiser has been created to ease financial burdens with the loss of two incomes as Arroyo’s wife of 40 years, Adriana, is temporarily residing in Los Angeles to be close to her husband.

“Alfredo is a loving grandfather who spends his weekends cheering on his grandkids at sporting games, loves to run and spends quality time with his family. Alfredo’s key values are family and his faith,” the fundraiser states.”To know him is to love him.”
