Fire at the Tajiguas Landfill

OK CHIP, EDNEY, VOICE - here's a real time example. What do they do? Allow the fire to spread or suppress it?

Fire was a dryer in the Resource Center and an easy knock-down as we already have containment areas there.

With all the dirty and unsorted crap we dump on our trash pick-up service, this is no surprise! In this case they're probably dealing with FREE large item pick-up "trash."
I don't know how SB can complain about Marborg service; I've never found a reason to!

Free Annual Bulky Item Clean-ups:
Goleta, County, and Santa Barbara Customers
All residential* customers in the Cities of Goleta Santa Barbara and County of Santa Barbara are eligible for 2 free clean up every calendar year. You may call in when it is convenient for you to have your items removed. We pick up all bulky waste on WEDNESDAYS and all electronic waste on THURSDAYS.
Buellton Customers
Large bulky-item clean-ups can be scheduled up to four times per year and are available on the first Tuesday of each month. Please call in to schedule.
Cleanup Program Rules:
All items must be brought to the curbside by 6am.
All items must be generated from the address we are collecting from
Loose items must be bagged, boxed or bundled
Green waste needs to be bundled. No waste from professional tree trimming
We must be notified of any items that exceed 5 feet in length or 60lbs so we can send the correct vehicle. (There is no size or weight limits on items)
Construction and remodel material is not acceptable.
(We will pick up doors, windows and toilets)
Household items only – no boats, Jacuzzis, remodel material, etc.
No hazardous waste (Tires are acceptable)
Appliances and electronics are free
*Bulky clean up is available for apartments and condos but must be scheduled through the apartment manager or account holder.

Thanks for the list. I toured the facility with a group--you have to make reservations. It was fascinating. If you have the time, tour it. It's amazing.
