Hi Andrew, Also had major police presents at a shooting ? in San Roque but I can't submit news because of an overriding weather blob. Maybe you can have them how I could submit news.

There is also police activity taking place on Calle Rosales in east San Roque. I don't have many details at the moment to post on it, but that's probably also why you're hearing a lot of sirens

So sad. :( I live on Las Positas near Earl Warren and have been hearing and seeing tons of sirens going north (toward State St) on Las Positas. Can you confirm the location of the fatality? I can’t figure out why they’d be going up Las Positas for a fatality on SB 101 at Mission….

I am related to the driver and trying to piece together what happened. Can you give me some info on when you drove by and what you saw pls? Was there alot of traffic in general that night?
I am not a lawyer, investigator or cop just family trying to figure out what happened that night. Everything helps.

The city needs to have Caltrains install freeway rail guards in areas that have trees next to the roadway. We have had numerous local freeway fatalities where a car leaves the roadway and impacts a tree.

I helped pull someone out of a car that hit a tree just before the mission SB offramp a few years back. The person was ok, but it is definitely a sketchy area when evening traffic backs up from the exit an onto the freeway. I think the issue there is that the offramp doesn't have enough volume for the number of vehicles that use it. There are a few in town like that where it takes a few light cycles to get through.

The fact that it is a major access point for the employees at Cottage Hospital during their shift change doesn't help. Those drivers, who are usually getting right back on in the northbound direction, plus the local people in the east and west neighborhoods, make it really busy.

PITMIX - I agree, that causes a lot of activity in that stretch between the Las Positas onramp and Mission offramp. I was in a pretty bad accident in that stretch years ago, and have since been hyper aware driving through there and also of accidents that happen there. It's frequent. Not speculating on this specific accident, only commenting about the area. RIP to the driver :(

I agree Fernanld. It’s a recipe for disaster to have so many large trees and boulders so close to the freeway. If you look closely, it’s shocking how many scars are on these trees from collisions. The trees should be removed to create a wide clear space beside the freeway, or guardrails should be installed to prevent collisions with these roadside hazards. I’m surprised caltrans doesn’t have some kind of regulations prohibiting trees, boulders, and other hazards being so close to the roadway without any guardrail. How can this be legal?

The Mission Street exit southbound is very problematic, due to high volume entering from Las Positas and high volume exiting from Mission. A transition lane here would be nice, like the one at La Cumbre, which would allow vehicles to enter or exit without impacting the traffic flow in the slow lanes, but this is not possible due to the presence of the east support for the pedestrian bridge over the railroad tracks. This could be engineered but would require cooperation from the railroad. Otherwise, accidents here will continue to happen due to high volumes of entering and exiting vehicles in a short distance of freeway.
