Election Party at Timbers Restaurant Goleta

By Robert Bernstein

The Timbers Restaurant in western Goleta hosted the election night celebration party for many local candidates. There was much for them to celebrate.

Not only did all of them sweep to victory. But Goleta City Council Member James Kyriaco was also successful in his campaign for Goleta’s Measure B sales tax to fund investment in local infrastructure that is desperately needed.

Here are a few of my photos of some of the winning celebrants.

Congress member Salud Carbajal spoke to the packed and energetic crowd and thanked his powerhouse team of young volunteers. Each of the winning candidates talked of the energy and dedication of the volunteers; worth more than any amount of money can buy.

County Supervisor Gregg Hart will soon be in the State Assembly and he is taking young and energetic community leader Ethan Bertrand as his assistant. Ethan Bertrand is currently on the Goleta Union School District board. And he serves on the board of the Isla Vista Community Services District, an entity he helped create. Here Gregg Hart spoke to the crowd.

Here Goleta City Council Member James Kyriaco celebrated his reelection win along with his Measure B success.

And Luz Reyes-Martín celebrated her win to the Goleta City Council. She will be replacing Roger Aceves, who campaigned as an environmental advocate, but often sided with oil and developer interests.

It was a very happy crowd at The Timbers Tuesday night.

  1. The Republican party has some work to do. Playing to the far right, nonsensical, racist, homophobic, Trump-loving base is going to cost them, time and again. I’d be willing to vote Republican on some issues if they ran moderate, sensible candidates. These Trump puppets will hopefully never be the voice of the majority and that’s a good thing.
