  1. Reportedly, from neighbors gathered on the corner of Soledad and Quinientos, the victim was a female teenager whose father is “a person of interest.” The location is the SB Housing Authority apartments midway on Soledad between Quinientos and Carpinteria Streets.

  2. Did you read the article? That was a prior stabbing on “ 1:15 a.m. Saturday on the 1300 block of Cacique Street.” also the story was post at 11am and updated at 2pm. Don’t spread gossip unless you know details

  3. Domestic disputes in our family are “settled” with a lot of glares, nasty comments that require apologies and general huffiness. I wish all families would use words not weapons. Not that words can’t be devastating, but they don’t take lives.

  4. It’s true that domestic violence is not only for poor people, but I think in this case they were. I understand the reality that domestic violence is a complicated situation and there are many reasons why people stay. I guess I would hope that we were teaching everyone that no one should stay in a situation like this- the first time it happens, they should leave and never go back. If we aren’t teaching people that, then why not?

  5. I hear about a dozen 415 Domestics a day most of them are called in by neighbors. I8 have heard that before where someone thinks someone else will call it in so they don’t but it’s not true here…We are proud snitches in Santa Barbara.

  6. Finally! I thought I would never see the words “Roger is right” on this website. So thank you for saying what I think was a wonderful comment about Roger. I only see/read a lot of cruel intentions towards a man who takes from his personal time to keep us informed. So once again, Yippy to you and Roger!

  7. What I have never understood is how someone thinks they could physically assault their partner the first time and have any chance of holding onto them. It just doesn’t seem like someone could ever have that kind of control over another person. But I guess if you get a toxic mix of poverty and family circumstances and family history and few options and violence then it is possible. Plus they say the perps seem genuinely sorry and beg for forgiveness afterward and promise it will never happen again. Yuck.

  8. Parents are role models for their children. Sometimes women who grew up in a dysfunctional family, with a father abusing mother women think that is just the way relationships are. They put up with abuse from husbands or partners. So very sad. RIP to this poor woman.

  9. PITMIX, you’re right, you don’t understand at all. It does not take the “perfect storm” you speak of for an abused person to stay in a relationship with their abuser. Abuse is very complicated for the abused person, you are minimizing many peoples’ reality.

  10. People often ignore cries for help, don’t want to get involved. A woman was killed in a condo here in Carp some years ago. The next door neighbor heard yelling for help but did nothing. Mom told me years ago people should holler “Fire” and there will be a reaction, at least calling the Fire Dept. “Fire” would be a threat to neighbors too so they wouldn’t ignore it.
