Santa Barbara City Firefighters were responded to the Douglas Family Preserve for a dog over the side call. The rescue required a technical rope system to be built so a firefighter could then be lowered over the side, retrieve the dog and return him to the dogs’ owner. The heavy rescue company from Station 1 on Carrillo St was requested for the rescue. This is the same heavy rescue company that searched for victims during the recent mudslides in Montecito.

No injuries were reported and the dog was reunited with the owner. Please use caution when walking with or without pets in the preserve. Leave a safety buffer of at least 5 feet from the cliffs edges.
