Coastal Cleanup on September 18th

Source: Explore Ecology

Calling all beach lovers! Join us for the world’s largest single-day volunteer cleanup on Coastal Cleanup Day, Saturday, September 18th, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.

With 28 sites from Carpinteria to Guadalupe to choose from, there is a beach waiting for you! Perks include an ocean view, fresh air, hanging out with friends and family, and picking up litter before it becomes marine debris. You can see a list of sites at: ExploreEcology.org/Coastal-Cleanup-Day/

When you register online, you will be entered in our drawing with a chance to win prizes from A Frame Surf Shop, REI, Surf Happens, the Santa Barbara Sailing Center, and Okeanos Swimwear. Please register at: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/159545708509

How can you make Coastal Cleanup Day zero waste? BYOB! Bring your own buckets, bags, and reusable gloves. If you don’t have supplies, we will have plenty at each site.

Please wear a mask when you sign in and check out. This will help protect you, other volunteers, and our Site Captains.

If you can’t make it to the Saturday, September 18th event, you can clean up anytime during the month of September and the litter that you find will be counted toward the Coastal Cleanup Day total when you enter it into the Clean Swell app or on our Google drive form.

In Santa Barbara County, Coastal Cleanup Day is coordinated by Explore Ecology and the County of Santa Barbara Resource Recovery and Waste Management Division. We thank Project Clean Water and the Cities of Goleta, Santa Barbara, and Solvang for their support.
