Throughout the year 2018, the City will be replacing old water piping, valves, and hydrants, in order to reduce water main breaks and conserve water. In the first phase, work will be performed on Brenner Drive from Anza Drive to Willow Glen Road, Anza Drive, and Fawn Place. Temporary traffic measures will be in place.

Cus thats what you do is build a fancy desal plant before you maintain the pipes to keep that water flowing to customers. Like filling a bucket with lots of holes in it!

The lack of diligence in replacing and maintaining city water lines is a disgrace. Conservative estimates are the city loses 8-10% of it water each year to these breaks. The budget (as you can see by this tiny patch) is to do about 1% a year. So in 100 years we can start again! With a small part of the desalination boondoggle the entire system could have been updated in a few years and we would have much cheaper water than the desalination plant offers--if it ever get working.

When replacing existing water lines, city should also install pipes to carry reclaimed water to each home when the delivery of that water becomes possible.
