Chimney Fire Causes Minor Damage

On Wednesday evening at approximately 7:27 pm, Santa Barbara City Firefighters responded to the 3700 Block of Lincolnwood Drive for a report of a chimney fire. The homeowner had a fire in their fire place and was alerted by a passing motorist who witnessed flames on the exterior of the chimney.
 
The homeowner called 911 and used a garden hose from his second story balcony prior to the arrival of the Fire Department. Firefighters accessed the attic space and extinguished the remaining fire using a water extinguisher. 
 
Two fire engines, a Battalion Chief and a truck company responded to the scene. The truck company extended the aerial ladder to access the roof and chimney. Firefighters checked for extension and completed overhaul on the chimney.
 
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation. There is no property damage estimate at this time. Firefighters were on scene for approximately one hour.
 
The Santa Barbara City Fire Department would like to remind residents to have your chimney cleaned and serviced regularly.
