A 50-100 acre vegetation fire is now burning off Drum Canyon Road in Los Alamos.

Named the Drum Fire, county fire crews responded to 4603 Drum Canyon Road, just south of Los Alamos, at 12:14 p.m. on Saturday.

Crews are reporting the fire is between 50-100 acres and are calling for a 2nd alarm.

There are reportedly 50-70 mph winds in the area of this fire and four heavy air tankers are being diverted from the Thomas Fire to assist crews on scene. An additional three dozers, two hand crews, and two helicopters are helping to stop this new brush fire.
