Armed Robbery at Jack in the Box
By Bob on the Scanner
Major police response to the Jack in the Box restaurant in the 3700 block of State Street for a reported armed robbery.
Heard it around 7:30p (tonite, Saturday) and just got to the computer.
Details I heard was that a Hispanic male suspect on foot was armed with a "long gun," assuming some type of rifle but unsure if automatic, wearing dark clothing, possibly a black hat and a red mask with a dark backpack.
The suspect has yet to be apprehended and was last seen walking towards Prestige car wash. Dispatch stated he only stole about $200 from the register.
Detectives and investigators en route. I assume they'll be scouring the area.

Jan 07, 2023 08:55 PM730PM on a Saturday night? Weren't there a lot of customers inside?

Jan 08, 2023 01:44 PMThere were five customers inside and four cars in the drive-in queue. That Jack in the Box has been there for 50 years give or take. Aways busy and has provided jobs for thousands. My two favorite menu items are their tacos (2 for $1.35ish) and the strawberry-flavored milkshake smothered with the whipped cream and a cherry on top.

Jan 09, 2023 09:29 AMGeneralTree: I'm guessing that the person who robbed JITB was in need of money for food. If this person used the money to b-u-y food, as you suggest, it should be healthy food. A few tacos and a milkshake once a week does not constitute a complete breakdown of unhealthy living....at least to me. My healthy/healthy food-conscious sister can't seem to get off of the chocolate (1 lb. blocks of Belgian milk chocolate) and "two-buck" Chuck from Trader Joes. When I'm working on one my art projects (I currently have two commissions), I tend to work very long hours without food/drink....and then it hits me: "I need some fooooooood!" Unfortunately, I don't reach for the celery sticks, but love/love/love Little Debbie Swiss Cake Rolls and Hostess Zingers (cream-filled sponge cake with a raspberry-coconut outer coating). Give me a box of either of those and a quart of whole milk and I'm off to the races. I often think to myself, "Where did those Zingers/Cake rolls go?"
Eat healthy people, but there is absolutely no reason to deprive yourself. If you want a bucket of KFC, go get it. If you want carrots/peas, dig in. If you want avocado toast (Handlebar Coffee has theeee best!), go for it. As GT suggests: moderation is key to a healthy lifestyle. And wouldn't you know it....we are out of Little Debbie Swiss Cake Rolls and Zingers!!!

Jan 08, 2023 07:57 AMWas there a crime committed? Less than $950 taken. Not sure if it’s illegal to carry a rifle around.

Jan 08, 2023 09:57 AMThe perp could have used a "long gun," assuming some type of rifle but unsure if automatic. I would say a semi automatic, and it could have been a sawed off shotgun. A short barrel shotgun at 18 1/4 inches long is legal to own (few decades back from what I can remember), under that it is illegal. The shorter the barrels on a shotgun, more spread in a short few feet from the shells.

Jan 08, 2023 12:00 PMGimli, that is absolutely wrong, the barrel length has the exact same pattern spread with the same cartridge and same size barrel diameter.

Jan 08, 2023 05:19 PMlol, wanna test that theory?

Jan 08, 2023 07:21 PMNot really. At the end of most shotguns is a choke, slight taper to keep the shot close together. Cutting the barrel short takes that away and shot speads out.
