Actress Pleads Guilty to Highway 154 DUI Collision

A soap opera actress pleaded guilty last week to DUI charges in connection with a head-on collision on Highway 154 last year.

Jensen Buchanan, the 55-year-old Los Angeles actress, entered her guilty pleas on Friday to the felony charges of driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury and driving with a blood alcohol level of .08 percent or higher causing injury. 

According to the Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office, this was not part of a plea agreement.

Buchanan, who’s known for her most recent television roles on “The Young and the Restless,” was driving her Mercedes S550 allegedly under the influence on May 18, 2016 and reportedly crossed the double yellow line on the highway. Her vehicle crashed head-on into Bradley Asolas, who suffered major injuries and was airlifted to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. 

Asolas suffered a shattered femur, pelvis, humerus, two broken ribs, lacerations in his liver, spleen and pancreas, 45% of his heart muscle died, parts of his spinal column were broken, and he developed pulmonary embolism, internal bleeding and high fever, reports Santa Ynez Valley News.

Buchanan previously pleaded not guilty in October 2016. Her sentencing is scheduled for October 6.
