Montecito Fire Protection District will hold a 9/11 remembrance ceremony to honor those who lost their lives on that fateful day in September 2001. The presentation will begin at 6:45 a.m. at Montecito Fire Station #1, 595 San Ysidro Road, Santa Barbara, CA.  The tolling of the bell, a tradition for honoring fallen firefighters, will occur at 6:59 a.m, the time that the first World Trade Center tower collapsed.

The public is encouraged to join us as we show our respect for the fallen.

This special event will recognize the 2,977 people who perished during the initial attacks and the subsequent collapses of the towers. Of those who lost their lives that day, 343 were firefighters, 60 were law enforcement officers, and 55 were military personnel serving at the Pentagon.

We all share a unique bond as the nation remembers the historic events of September 11th, 2001, and we ask that everyone keep the memory alive of those lost that day in New York City, the Pentagon, Shanksville, Pennsylvania as well as the military service members that have been killed in action defending our freedom and way of life.

We will never forget.
