147 New COVID-19 Cases This Weekend

The Santa Barbara County Public Health Department (PHD) is reporting 147 new COVID-19 cases from Saturday through Monday.

The total case count is now 7,800 with 233 of those cases active. 

There has been one additional death in the City of Santa Barbara for a total of 88 COVID-19 deaths within the county. The resident was over 70 years of age, had underlying health conditions, and lived in a congregate-care facility within Santa Barbara.

There are 54 hospitalizations including 19 people in the intensive care unit (ICU).

Cottage Health Specific Numbers

  • Cottage Health is caring for a total of 248 patients across all campuses.

  • 200 are acute care patients; 188 acute care beds remain available.  

  • Of the 200 acute care patients, 14 patients are on ventilators.

  • 76 ventilators remain available (adult, pediatric and neonatal ventilators).

  • Of the 200 acute care patients, 26 are in isolation with COVID-19 symptoms;

  • 24 are confirmed COVID-19 positive.

  • Of the 26 patients in isolation, 11 patients are in critical care.

  • From August 10–16:  
2,591 COVID-19 laboratory tests were collected by Cottage Health.
Results: 117 positive, 2,474 negative
  • From August 17–23:  
2,292 COVID-19 laboratory tests were collected by Cottage Health.
Results: 97 positive, 1,988 negative, 207 pending

  1. So, what I can extrapolate from your numbers… Out of 248 patients, 26 have Covid symtoms, 24 are Covid positive, and 11 of the 26 are in ‘critical care’. How many are in ICU and how many are on ventilators? Also, so you’re saying 222 out of the 248 are just in the hospital and not Covid-19 patients? So why include the total number of patients in the hospital if it’s vastly different from the actual numbers of Covid patients, while reporting on the number of Covid cases/patients/deaths?
