1.5 Acre Brush Fire Quickly Extinguished

Santa Barbara County firefighters were quick to extinguish a 1.5-acre brush fire in Santa Barbara early Thursday evening.

The vegetation fire was in the area of Via Chaparral and Salvar Road in the San Marcos Foothills just before 5:30 p.m. 

Crews halted the forward progress on the fire within 20 minutes.

Early reports stated a person was seen leaving the area right before the fire started.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
