Vehicle Lands on Railroad Tracks Near Refugio

By the edhat staff

A reader reports a traffic collision on Highway 101 south caused a vehicle to land on the railroad tracks.

Reader Daniel S. sent in photos of the collision around 8:00 a.m. Thursday, south of the Gaviota Tunnel near Refugio.

One vehicle rolled, collided with a telephone pole, and landed on the railroad tracks. The driver required extrication and sustained minor injuries, according to scanner traffic.

Amtrak reports the Pacific Surfliner 774 train will be delayed south of Lompoc due to a disabled vehicle blocking the tracks in the area.

In what appears to be a second, but unrelated collision, is another vehicle rollover in the northbound lanes by Refugio.

It’s unclear if another vehicle is involved in this second collision or if there are any injuries.

This is a developing story.
