A woman sustained major injuries after her vehicle collided into a tree in Lompoc on Monday evening.

At 11:04 p.m., Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to Mission Gate and Purisima Road for a single vehicle collision. The solo occupant in the vehicle was a 38-year-old female driver who complained of major injuries, said Captain Dave Zaniboni.

It required major extrication to remove the driver from the vehicle, but once free she was transported to Marian Medical Hospital via ground ambulance, said Zaniboni.

The cause of the collision is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
