Two cats died in an early morning structure fire in Isla Vista on Saturday.
At 12:40 a.m. Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire at 6711 El Colegio Road #31 and found a fire burning in a second story apartment. The fire was contained to one room and no one was home at the time, said SBC Fire Captain Dave Zaniboni.
The contents of the room were destroyed and two cats inside had both died in the fire. There were no other injuries reported, said Zaniboni.
The fire did not extend to any other part of the building or apartment. Investigators are determining the cause of the fire.
