With Veterans Day, the Goleta and Santa Ynez Valley Libraries want to remind everyone about a free program library card holders can use for support to search for both veteran benefits and jobs: Brainfuse JobNow & VetNow. Thanks to the California State Library, patrons can enjoy full access to the Brainfuse JobNow & VetNow website, where they can update their resumes, practice for interviews, and find local veteran resources.

VetNow is designed to help veterans with their transition from military to civilian life. The user-friendly website includes tools for finding employment, pursuing your education, securing housing and using your VA benefits. Veterans can also search for resources such as scholarship opportunities, volunteer programs, legal services and community support networks on both the local and national level. Click here to start exploring these helpful tools.

JobNow has a variety of tools to help you with your job search, from finding current openings in your field to writing a strong cover letter to preparing for your interview. For applicants who would like to strengthen their skills, the website also offers computer literacy training and detailed study guides for professional specialty tests. JobNow even includes career information for COVID-19, including job opportunities in the age of social distancing, safe interview practices, and tips for working remotely. Click here to get started in your job search.

“Taking the first step toward your goal is an exciting moment,” says Goleta Valley Library Children’s Librarian Elizabeth Saucedo. “We are eager for our community to use the amazing tools on the JobNow & VetNow website and pursue their plans with confidence.”

In addition to Brainfuse JobNow & VetNow, the Goleta and Santa Ynez Valley Libraries continue to offer Brainfuse HelpNow!, which connects school age and university students with live tutors and study tools to help them with their homework. Get started with Brainfuse Helpnow! here, which has been made possible through the generous support of the Friends of the Goleta Valley Library.

If you don’t already have a Goleta or Santa Ynez Valley Library card to access these great online tools, sign up for a Library eCard here, or stop by the library in person during Sidewalk Service hours on Wednesday – Saturday from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. to register for a physical card.
