Tire Slasher Arrested in 5 Points Shopping Center
By Geo Duarte
A man was arrested for slashing tires in the big 5 parking lot at 5 points shopping center Saturday evening. A family was sitting in their car when a man came up and punctured the right front tire.. Some of the family members jumped out of the Toyota 4 runner and the suspect backed off, yet stayed on the scene as police quickly arrived.
Another vehicle of few parking spots away already had all 4 tires slashed, this may have been the actual suspect's own vehicle.
The suspect made threatening hand gestures (gun-to-head-fingers) to another shopper who immediately moved his car.
The Suspect was taken into custody for psychiatric evaluation.

Oct 16, 2022 07:09 PMI concur with Detective FondOfSB, this has all the makings of the Reefer Madness. How are upstanding citizens supposed to sleep at night knowing raving lunatics are injecting the devil lettuce and ordering an XL stuffed crust pepperoni pizza and BBQ wings from the Milpas Little Caesar's? Someone needs to stop them!

Oct 17, 2022 09:03 AMSac : You're not born with this much craziness. It happened from what he consumed. Keep defending those creeps. One day it'll happen to you ..

Oct 17, 2022 12:27 PMFOND - I never said weed can't make you a little nutty if you already have underlying issues and smoke it all day every day. Again though, where does it say he consumned anything, much less "weed?"
Odd you accuse me of "defending" him while at the same time completely make up a scenario that has zero basis in the given facts that you now think I'm defending him against. Talk about craziness..... lol keep on with the delusions!

Oct 17, 2022 03:19 PMFond - and what DID this suspect, consume, exactly? I'd like to know where to get your all-knowing insight into this. L O L . I don't think I've ever known anyone to partake in cannabis and then think "hey, what a good day it is to go out and slash tires". Nice try tho.

Oct 17, 2022 07:15 PMSac : You're the one deluding yourself.
Try to understand what I write : to get to this level of craziness you have to have shot your brain with too much weed, drug or whatever else.
But keep glorifying this drug addicted society : in 10 or 20 years you'll have a whole generation of brain fried people

-
Oct 17, 2022 08:12 PMFrom this example, it looks like someone can reach that level of craziness merely by making speculative comments online, and then getting too invested in it.

Oct 17, 2022 08:47 PMFOND - that's not true at all. I've read of people doing crazier things than slashing tires here and not being drug addicts. You have little to no understanding (or compassion) for mental illness and addiction. You can have one without the other and both can be devastating.
Now, again, where does it say he consumed anything?

Oct 16, 2022 06:59 PMYou did read that it says he may have slashed all 4 of his own tires first? I'm glad that he didn't harm anyone with the item he used to slash the tires and that the police got there quickly. Hopefully this was the only damage that he caused today before getting help.

Oct 17, 2022 08:44 PMHe self corrected on the "driving around in that mental state" by slashing his own tires.
Probably mentally ill, most likely self medicating. Hopefully he will get the help he needs before he, heaven forfend, attacks a Tesla

Oct 18, 2022 03:21 PMThe driver of the white SUV is actualy a doctor and he recommended the mental evaluation. Not sure what his medical parctice involves. Yet, He filed a citizens-arrest with a recommendation for psychiatric assessment. When police arrived the suspect was sitting on a curb with his head down between his knees.
This is the same lot the Tesla charging stations are located next to Big 5. Thankfully no Teslas were involved in the madness. While on the scene, I heard nothing regarding any intoxication. Just that "...the guy did not seem ok..." this is according to the victim / MD. May the suspect find redemtion of some kind.

Oct 18, 2022 04:40 PMAllow me to coin a new phrase;
"Ok Banger"..
Those who are so old, they were here for the Big Bang......
Weed does Not make people crazy.
Nowhere in the History of Weed, has someone smoked pot & gone "loco".
There's never even been a "weed induced" myth about a person doing so.
Has anyone ever taken a muscle relaxer?..that's 10 X stronger than weed..& lasts longer than a "high", with more & stronger side effects.
Happy, Hungry, Sleepy---that's weeds.

Oct 18, 2022 04:57 PMSorry to burst the stoner bubble of rationalization, but marijuana use has serious deleterious effects on the mental health of anyone already prone to schizophrenia, especially younger people.
-
-
-
Oct 18, 2022 05:04 PMYes, any mind altering substance, alcohol included, can be an issue with people with schizophrenia. Not the same as saying smoking cannabis will cause it, or any other serious and debilitating mental health issues that weren't already there. Triggering present conditions and causing them to exist are very different.

Oct 18, 2022 05:38 PMWhat part of "prone to" was unclear? Cannabis usage may trigger a latent condition that would have otherwise not manifested.

Oct 18, 2022 05:45 PM5:38 - What part of "people with schizophrenia" and "triggering present conditions" was unclear? It was perfectly clear, hence my response being phrased the way it was. Did you even read my comment?

Oct 18, 2022 05:48 PM"Prone to" is not equivalent to "have" or "present" in most vocabularies.
-
-
-
Oct 18, 2022 05:55 PMProne - likely to or liable to suffer from, do,
Have, present - meaning the condition is present, as in someone with latent schizophrenia. Pretty similar.
Show me the study that says cannabis CAUSES this condition.

Oct 18, 2022 06:20 PMYou should look up latent. Not similar enough. Cannabis use can cause it to develop = have.

Oct 18, 2022 06:30 PMLatent: present and capable of emerging or developing but not now visible, obvious, active, or symptomatic -- https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/latent
Explain to me how latent schizophrenia ("present.....but not now...active") is different from having it. PRESENT means it exists. Existing means you have it. Again, which is why I said "triggering present conditions" in my original post.

Oct 18, 2022 08:41 PMhttps://nida.nih.gov/publications/research-reports/marijuana/there-link-between-marijuana-use-psychiatric-disorders
Relevant quote:
"Several studies have linked marijuana use to increased risk for psychiatric disorders, including psychosis (schizophrenia), depression, anxiety, and substance use disorders, but whether and to what extent it actually causes these conditions is not always easy to determine. Recent research suggests that smoking high-potency marijuana every day could increase the chances of developing psychosis by nearly five times compared to people who have never used marijuana. The amount of drug used, the age at first use, and genetic vulnerability have all been shown to influence this relationship. The strongest evidence to date concerns links between marijuana use and psychiatric disorders in those with a preexisting genetic or other vulnerability."

Oct 18, 2022 08:50 PM"but whether and to what extent it actually causes these conditions is not always easy to determine"
"The strongest evidence to date concerns links between marijuana use and psychiatric disorders in those with a preexisting genetic or other vulnerability."" - As in "prone" or already having the disease "present."
"We have evidence suggesting that cannabis use, primarily THC in cannabis, in genetically predisposed or at-risk populations, leads to earlier diagnosis of psychosis/schizophrenia." - Again, prone or latent or present or whatever helps you sleep at night.
This study does not prove that cannabis use CAUSES schizophrenia.

Oct 18, 2022 06:25 PMNo frickin way this is just weed-induced. No way. But Coolio got a 1-5 for a legitimate statement. This guy is mentally ill, and he and many others like him are out cruising around. We don’t have a legit system to handle this stuff.
-
1
-
-
Oct 18, 2022 06:49 PMBASIC - exactly. But, maybe the 1-5 was due to him suggesting this is just an SB problem. It's not.

Oct 18, 2022 06:55 PMHe never said that and we all know it’s not just an SB issue. Here’s a tip Sac - don’t keep trying so hard to minimize peoples’ comments.

Oct 18, 2022 07:25 PMBASIC - he said what he said. I only tried to offer an explanation for the 1-5 count you brought up. Take it as you want, as well as your "tip."

Oct 18, 2022 07:28 PMI'm having a time following this "Discussion"? at first I ASSumed there was some sort of "weird consensus" as to there being some sort of "Weed-induced Tire Slasher" out there? So obviously took it to be humor, but now I'm not sure what happened? (as I kept chuckling to myself thinking some think it's true?)
Whatever the case, I also hope he's provided the assistance he obviously needs...
-
-
-
Oct 18, 2022 07:35 PMBICYCLIST - no consensus at all that this was weed induced thank goodness! And you know how these things go.... devolving into side topics/arguments and I'm guilty as charged for contributing to that ;)
