Three Injured in Suspected DUI Traffic Collision

Three people sustained injuries in a wrong-way traffic collision on Highway 101 in Santa Barbara on Monday evening.

The collision took place around 11:00 p.m. in northbound lanes near the Bath Street offramp.

A Toyota Tundra pickup truck, driven by a 38-year-old male from Santa Barbara, was traveling south in northbound lanes when it crashed head-on into a minivan driven by a 49-year-old Oxnard resident.

The collision caused two critical injuries and one moderate injury. All patients were transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital by ground ambulances.

The driver of the truck that was traveling in the wrong direction, Teodulo Navaclemente, was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence.

Northbound lanes were shut down for a short period of time following the collision.
