As of Friday morning, the Tecuya Fire is 60% containment at 73 acres.

Crews continue to work the fire. Helicopters and air tankers were used the first day to stop fire progression. Cooler temps & higher humidity are helping. Retardant line around the fire with a combo of hand line, dozer line and hose lays.

On Thursday evening the Tecuya Fire now 50% contained and holding at 50 acres.

The below map of the fire perimeter shows the proximity to the Tecuya Ridge Shaded Fuelbreak, a critical tool for firefighters to safely engage and suppress future wildfires.

Los Padres Forest and Kern County firefighters are working to contain a growing brush fire in Frazier park.

The fire spakred around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday west of Interstate 5 and north of Tecuya Mountian Road. There are currently over 300 personnel on the scene including 15 engines and 4 helicopters.

On Wednesday evening air tankers encircled the perimeter with a double line of retardant. As of Thursday morning, the U.S. Forest Service states the fire is 10% contained and has burned approximately 50 acres so far.

“Night shift cews made significant progress. Containment is expected to increase by the end of the day,” stated the Los Padres National Forest Service.

Temperatures are expected to reach the high 80s and possibly 90s this weekend in the area.
