What's going on with all of the cop cars next to Alameda Park on Micheltorena between Garden & Laguna?

There was a huge black army looking vehicle for a long time. Sounded like a swat team this morning. I can't find any news on it but my neighbor just told me there are still cops outside.

So now what, you have more crap to assume about people you don’t know.

CONCERNED: Do you mean the legalization of cannabis? Government is as much “dealing” is as they are Budweiser or Starbucks coffee. Private enterprise. Government does not produce or sell. And FLICKA: Point well taken about alcohol (and might i add, tobacco). They are deadly but allowed, and so should weed be, or else ban EVERYTHING that gives personal pleasure but causes harm.

What about liquor stores? Should they be made illegal too? Alcohol is the number one drug in America and a real killer.

Wouldn't hurt my feelings if there wasn't alcohol, and/or cigarettes out there destroying people's lives, in many ways. Caffeine is a drug and can cause harm to some. Not as much as alcohol, and cigarettes though. I really don't see the sense in adding marijuana to the list.

Number one drug is caffeine. Liquor stores are highly regulated, supervised and subjected to periodica public review, with loss of license as a consequence.. And yes, misuse of alcohol is a huge problem. Why does anyone want to add even more substances to abuse?

Now that our state and local governments have directly entered the drug dealing business you can expect them to push drugs just like they push gambling from their lottery business. Why can our government push drugs and gambling on a populace that frankly they failed to educate adequately in the first place?

Crystalandmaui - you're antiquated anti-marijuana rants don't really fit your screen name. Can you explain "crystal" and "maui?"

The irony of it all. No good will come out of legalization of any drugs. So if you push enough you’ll get your way, is that how it works, that’s what kids do to get thier way, so as responsible adults we’re to say no and teach the reason as to no. Not give in. I do know your being sarcastic here. I get it. Just wish others would have, before they decided to legalize drugs. Now I here people saying out loud I’m going to be a marijuana seller, my goal in life is to has a dispensary. Wow. My grandmother used to say “ we’re going to hell in a hand basket “ the future looks grim if this is the way of the United States. Crazy.

NATURE BOY, please read the small print. Look under the photos. About 1 inch down from photos. Says photos were supplied by Santa Barbara Police Department, on the right, under the photos, in parenthesis. Also, in body of article, paragraphs three, four, and five...all names listed. BTW, is it possible to shame drug dealers? Please explain...

One way to prevent more needles in city parks - one address is Alameda Park on East Micheltorena. Where the churches in this part of town provide overnight warming and feeing stations for the vagrant populations that dominate the near by parks.

It says 2800 block...not 2800 State and at his home , not a motel...so no, not at Town and Country. Also we were at the Lemon Tree when this was happening and 3 cops were on the scene of an accident at the intersection of State and Alamar within 1 minute from just up the street after this went down. Quickest response for traffic control ever.

Right next to the halfway house? Nice neighbors. There must be a real sucess story coming out of that social welfare program. Play by the rules when you get public largesse. The least we can ask.

Much better than having armed SWAT officers on the apartment walkway when I came down the stairs.
