A small brush fire broke out west of Winchester Canyon in the Los Padres National Forest on Friday afternoon.
At 3:52 p.m., Santa Barbara County firefighters along with a County Air Support helicopter responded to the area to find a quarter-acre fire moving at a slow rate of spread in light to medium brush.
“Locals made good progress prior to [County firefighters] arrival, said Santa Barbara County Fire Capt. Scott Safechuck.
Helicopter 964 made a water drop to aid in controlling the fire.
Forward progress of the fire was stopped at 4:55 p.m., said Capt. Safechuck.
