SBCC’s Board of Trustees Extends Superintendent/President Search

The Santa Barbara Community College District Board of Trustees has extended the Superintendent/President search process and has reopened applications for the position until April 16, 2023. 

The parameters of continuing this Superintendent/President search process include:

  • Maintaining the same screening committee.

  • Current finalists may remain in the search for consideration.

  • Additional candidates may apply by April 16.

  • Public forums for additional final candidates will be held prior to the end of the Spring 2023 term.

Established in 1909, Santa Barbara City College (SBCC) is one of the oldest community colleges in California. The district consists of SBCC’s main campus on Santa Barbara’s beachfront coast, two separate campuses for its School of Extended Learning programs, as well as a Cosmetology school.   1. I can understand the desire/importance to hire someone who will stay at the job and not use it as a stepping stone or is a short-timer to retirement– and SBCC has the perfect candidate/finalist already in Erika Endrijonas who was a dean at SBCC in the past and is currently president of Pasadena CC. Erika did a great job as a dean here, has friends in the community, is bright courageous, innovative, and likable. With her considerable history in Santa Barbara, I would not consider Erika an “outsider.” SBCC will lose an opportunity to hire an exceptional person/leader if let Erika slip through this process.
