Deputies Investigating Threat from Juvenile -No Lockdowns or Other Safety Protocols Requested at Santa Ynez Valley Union High School

Update by the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office

The Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating threats made by a juvenile at Santa Ynez Valley Union High School (SYVUHS).

On Tuesday, October 3, 2023, School Resource Deputy Peters began investigating reports of a threat that had been made the day prior.

Deputies coordinated with school administrative staff throughout this investigation and have not identified information that would necessitate safety protocols at SYVUHS or any other locations in the Santa Ynez Valley.

Deputies have identified the male juvenile suspect and are in contact with him. Sheriff’s detectives are continuing this investigation and ask anyone with information about this incident to contact detectives at (805)681-4150.

There have apparently been school shooting threats.
