Santa Maria Police Conduct Sex Registrant Compliancy Operation

On Wednesday, 5/13/2021, members of the Santa Maria Police Department Sex Offender’s Compliancy Team, along with SMPD Detectives, members from State Parole and The Santa Barbara County District Attorneys’ Office Investigative Unit, conducted a Parole / Probation sex offender compliancy check in the City of Santa Maria.

The purpose of the operation is to ensure that registered sex offenders are in compliance with the terms and conditions required by law.

During the course of the operation, the team contacted 20 registered sex offenders at approximately 13 individual locations, within the city. Of those, (2) subjects were taken into custody for failing to register as required by law. The remaining individuals were found to be in compliance.

The Santa Maria Police Department is committed to public safety and will continue to monitor and conduct additional compliancy checks throughout the year.
